3G Technology Overview

The third-generation networks or 3G will be the standard for future mobile phones. While the government will be refining the rules governing 3g Networks which will be ready later this year. People today not only communicate by voice, text or chat. Now, as important as talking on the phone is to send videos, pictures or files. It is part of a new reality: the media. Google TV Product Lead: “We’re Not Trying To Replace Cable

Google TV Product Manger Rishi Chandra took the stage today to talk about Google TV, Google’s recent effort to integrate television and Internet browsing. Google TV has recently become the subject of much debate as networks like Fox, NBC, CBS and ABC have all pulled their content from the service (looks like Fox pulled out from the service while Chandra was on stage!).

Cable companies are also viewing Google TV as a threat, as they are increasingly concerned with cord-cutting (a huge buzzword at this conference), or people canceling their bundled cable subscriptions because they can find the content for free or for less elsewhere.

480Mbps Speed with Samsung New Wireless USB Chips

Samsung Electronics introduced its latest wireless universal serial bus (USB) solution, developed using Ultra Wide Band (UWB) technology. This solution capable of transmission speeds up to 480Mbps with an actual throughput rate of 200Mbps. The result is reportedly ten times more power efficient than 802.11g Wi-Fi. Offered in a two-chip set, Samsung's newest S3C2680/ S5M8311 WUSB solution enables high definition content to be wirelessly transmitted from a mobile host device to a tethered device for viewing.
Initial applications are high-resolution cameras, camcorders, TVs and PCs with prospects for adoption in other applications including tablet PCs, printers, beam projectors, portable HDDs, Blu-ray players, and mobile handsets. Samsung Electronics  is a worldwide leader in advanced semiconductor technology solutions. The product is made up of two chips, S3C2680, a baseband processor with an ARM 9 core, built-in NAND flash controller, SD I/O, and two USB 2.0 PHYs; and S5M8311a, a separate RF transciever.

The chips can be deployed in SD cards, USB dongles, or embedded directly into consumer electronics. Samsung says the solution is especially suited for digital cameras and HD camcorders for high throughput local content sharing. Samsung's S3C2680/S5M8311 WUSB chipset is now sampling to select customers. Mass production of the chips is expected to begin in the fourth quarter of 2010.
According to Mr. Yiwan Wong, vice president, System LSI marketing, Samsung Electronics, "The ability to handle wireless high-speed data transmission while consuming less power is a key requirement for many consumer electronic devices. Due to power/performance issues, previous generations of [Wireless USB] products were unable to meet the consumers' expectations. Samsung's new WUSB chipset delivers up to 480Mbps (Megabit per second) data transmission rate, at an average power consumption of less than 300mW. This level of power efficiency greatly increases the attractiveness of WUSB connectivity in consumer electronic and mobile applications."

The Fastest Growing Mobile Marketing

Mobile Marketing is a very fast growing field and mobile commerce market is currently worth approximately $2.5 billion and that number is expected to double each year for the next several years. This clearly showing that it'll soon make leads on Internet Marketing. This report was estimated byeTail 2010 social media and mobile commerce summit.

According to Scott, president of Weblink Marketing, "When two of the most successful companies in the world are both vying for the same mobile advertising network, you better take notice".

He also referring to Google’s acquisition of Admob, a mobile advertising network. Apple had initially expressed an interest in Admob, but Google beat them to it. Apple followed with its own purchase of Quattro wireless, also a mobile advertising company. According to Scott, "We at Weblink Marketing are paying close attention to a multitude of companies that seem to be positioning themselves to cash in on the mobile marketing wave and will be following their lead"

Though mobile advertising industry is currently tiny compared to internet advertising, the intense interest of these two companies suggest that we will see a tremendous growth in the Mobile advertising market.

Mary Meeker, an internet analyst at Morgan Stanley, predicts that within the next five years "more users will connect to the internet over mobile devices than desktop PCs". Considering Mary Meeker was covering this subject when Morgan Stanley was the underwriter for Netscape’s initial IPO offering in 1995 and was also present when the brokerage firm helped launch the Google IPO, she should be an expert at spotting trends.

All of the current indicators point to an explosion in the Mobile Marketing world. It has also predicted that the smartphone will soon take over the laptop and pc. All these terms are in favor of Mobile Marketing.

Indian-Origin Man CrAcks World's Toughest Sum!

London: An Indian-origin computer scientist based in the US claims to have solved one of the world's most complex mathematical riddles

Vinay Deolalikar, who works with the US multinational information technology corporation Hewlett-Packard in California, believes he has solved the problem of "P versus NP", Daily Telegraph reported Wednesday. The Massachusetts-based Clay Mathematical Institute has categorised "P vs NP" as one of the seven millennium problems. It is considered the "most difficult" one to be solved

Deolalikar 's paper that was posted online Friday claims that P, which refers to problems whose solutions are easy to find and verify, is not the same as NP, which refers to problems whose solutions are almost impossible to find but easy to verify, the report said.

Google & Apple prepare for mobile ads battle

In early June, Steve Jobs demonstrated iAds in front of Apple developers in San Francisco. The ad he showed off was a work-in-progress by Nissan. The demo, which included a 15-second video, an interactive application and a form to sign up for a competition, didn’t quite live up to Jobs’s aim of “trying to combine the emotion of video with the interactivity of the web”. But it was slick. In the future, Jobs promised, iAds would bring in the revenue that would allow developers to continue producing “free and low-cost apps to delight users”.

There are early signs that mobile advertising, like everything else touched by Cupertino’s genius, will turn to gold. During the eight weeks leading up to the presentation in San Francisco, Apple sold $60m-worth of iAds to the likes of Unilever and Disney. This compares with the $250m mobile online display revenue generated across the whole of 2009 in the U.S.

Smaller bite for media owners

For media owners, there are two major problems with Apple’s ad model, which the analyst Toni Sacconaghi of Bernstein Research suggested in a recent report has the potential to become an $800m-a-year business within the next year.

First, Apple’s approach threatens to reduce media owners to the status of “developers” alongside tens of thousands of competitors. The second problem is that Apple’s business model, like Google’s, reduces media owners’ involvement in advertising markets to a minimum.

HTC’s First Windows Phone 7 Smartphone Revealed

HTC’s Revealed the very first Windows Phone 7 smartphone. With Windows Phone 7 on the horizon, we’re starting to see the first future handsets for that operating system leak through the usual channels, and first on the starting block is the usual suspect: HTC, who appears to be eager to capitalize upon the patent deal it signed with Microsoft back in April.
The unnamed device’s specs include an 8 megapixel camera, a 3.7-inch super LCD display, a 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon CPU. Three buttons line the bottom of the display, and the back of the camera features an LED flash. According to Engadget and their source, the phone’s hardware ready: HTC’s just waiting for Microsoft to fire the starting pistol and allow them to start selling it.

Beyond the mere details of the hardware, Engadget’s source is also claiming that HTC is in talks with two US carriers. Verizon’s the first one, which makes sense: they are still struggling to find their own iPhone-like showcase handset. If you’re not on Verizon, though, and want a Windows Phone 7 handset, don’t fret: HTC will doubtlessly be as promiscuous about their Windows Phone 7 smartphones as they have with their Android ones. There’ll be plenty of HTC Windows Phone 7 to go around.

Apple Top in World in Software Insecurity

Apple is the most security vulnerabilities in its software. Its a report by security company Secunia. Apple has displaced Oracle from 1st place. Apple had more reported flaws than any other vendor in first half of 2010. Microsoft retains its third-place spot. Secunia has tracked security vulnerabilities and issues advisories since 2002, producing periodic reports on the state of software.

In term of top ten vendors account for some 38% of all flaws reported. As the report says that Apple is most insecure in its software, it does not necessarily mean that Apple's software is the most insecure in practice. The report takes no consideration of the severity of the flaws, it points at a growing trend in the world of security flaws: the role of third-party software.
Generally Apple's flaws are not in its operating system, Mac OS X, but rather in software like Safari, QuickTime, and iTunes. Vendors like Adobe (with Flash and Adobe Reader) and Oracle (with Java) are similarly responsible for many of the flaws being reported.

This report includes cumulative figures for the number of vulnerabilities found on a Windows PC with the 50 most widely-used programs. Five years ago, there were more first-party flaws (in Windows and Microsoft's other software) than third-party. Since about 2007, the balance shifted towards third-party programs. This year, third-party flaws are predicted to outnumber first-party flaws by two-to-one. Secunia also makes a case that effectively updating this third-party software is much harder to do.
Whereas Microsoft's Windows Update and Microsoft Update systems will provide protection for around 35% of reported vulnerabilities, patching the remainder requires the use of 13 or more updating systems. Some vendors like Apple, Mozilla, and Google, for example do have decent automatic update systems, but others require manual intervention by the user.
